Raising Money For

Walking With The Wounded

Cawood House is a care home in Brinnington, Stockport, that specialises in providing dementia care. The Cawood Team loves a crazy idea, so our 42 residents (who range from 75 to 95 years young) with help of staff, family and friends will start our ‘journey’ to Calais, France on 21st May. We aim to complete the 607 mile trip (which is a whopping 1,321,775 steps!) around our amazing home by D-Day (6th June).
Staff at Cawood House have the privilege of caring for some WW2 veterans and we love hearing their amazing stories of their proud time serving their country. We, along with our other 11 Borough Care homes, recently signed up to the Veteran Friendly Framework.
Our local gym, Life Leisure Brinnington, are joining us on this amazing journey by donating their steps. We have some amazing veterans within our local community coming to join us, too.
Our amazing residents have decided they want to raise £1 per mile, so we’ve set a target of £607 - but we’d love to raise even more!

What a day 💖 we have eaten too many French treats, drank a little champagne, danced the afternoon away. We have listened to some amazing story's, happy story's, some truly inspirational story's and shed a few tears to some story's. Every single resident, member of staff, friends and family and the team at brinnington leisure complex have been amazing at making sure we hit the 607miles 🥰 as quoted by our resident jean it's been beautiful 💖
